hehe, director Fernando di Leo does a great comment on that on the DVD.
He says he was aware of the fact and he knows the film is utterly *beep* but it was a 12-day shooting job and there had to be something to further the story. He's also baffled why this movie got some kind of cult-status in the US. The interview on the DVD is really one of the highlights.
Somewhere it's also said this movie got some hardcore inserted when cut for abroad (outside Italy). I have a version that borders on hardcore (RARO release), but I'm not sure if it is the version they are referring to... it clocks in at 91 minutes so it prolly isn't that cut.

Yeah, this flick is a total raunchy riot. I think the filmmakers couldn't decide whether to make a murder mystery thriller or a sleazy softcore porn flick, so they decided to clumsily mix the two together and wound up making one of the single most hilariously scuzzy Euroslime exploitation items to ever ooze onto celluloid. I especially enjoyed all the graphic masturbation scenes and nonstop avalanche of in-your-face explicit gratuitous female nudity (Rosalba Neri's steamy shower scene in particular is a definite highlight).

true that. he is so underused in this.

This one is definitely absurd and nonsensical but does have a nice gothic feel with lots of beautiful women. Again though, this is another film where Kinski is criminally underused.
