I went into this movie knowing NOTHING about it. lol.

I thought it was going to be a typical Clint Eastwood film mixed in with the American Civil War....then I think it's going to turn out to be a romance.....then it turns into some strange 70's drug film, and finally....a horror movie where there are no good guys.

All and all, an awesome film experience for me personally. lol. And sadly, that is how life is. No one is truly good, and sadly life can be a fun comedy one minute, but turn into a horror the next.

This film is another one of those lost classics that more people should see in my view.

The late 60's / early 70's is when movies 'grew up'.

I just saw The Beguiled for the first time the other day, it could have been made nowadays.

Just perhaps a couple of tweaks, NOT making it more explicit, but smoothing out a few rough edges, it would still be good.

It's definitely the era when American movies grew up,so to speak. Foreign films (such as European and Latin American films) had already been dealing frankly with more mature adult subjects matter, social, political and sexual-wise for decades by that time already.

Yeah, the tone of the film did change a few times throughout. I think it should have stayed with the horror tone.

Just caught it for the first time. Would love to see the Sophia Coppola remake that came out this year.

I hear this one is only a little bit better than the Coppola one.

I just saw this one as well, for the first time I believe (at least, I cannot remember seeing it). Really enjoyed it! "Enjoy" may not be the right word choice ... very suspenseful and never a dull moment. It was different than anything else I have seen him in.
