Re-make

First of all, remakes are not a wise decision. They are usually terrible and do nothing but tarnish the original. However, in the case of The Beguiled, I think the story and script deserves to be more well-known. I honestly think the subject matter is still relevant and would resonate a lot with today's audience. I am a 24 year old male and it instantly became my favorite Eastwood film (much to my surprise). As long as a re-make was done tastefully, stuck to the original script, and kept the civil war setting - I think it could be a decent tribute. Ideally, I think it should be directed by Clint Eastwood and start his son Scott as the character of McB. They bare an uncanny resemblance so if he could pull it off, it might feel like an accurately updated McB. Like I said, I think the original is is great but sadly is is probably Eastwood's most overlooked and unknown film. This doesn't sit right with me and I know for a fact most people are averse to 30+ year old cinema (although it has never bothered me). What do you guys think?

No.

Looks like you're getting your wish though

... thanks ...

No? Really? That's all you have to add to this discussion? Good stuff...

...also, I just read the article - not even close to my "wish".

I replied with a "no" because there is nothing to add to The Beguiled. It's Eastwood and Siegel's best collaboration (that is saying a lot!). Remakes should be regulated to not-so good movies that had decent ideas that weren't fully realized. Leave classics and unsung classics (like The Beguiled) alone.

Seems close enough to me. You wanted a remake and now it seems you will be getting one.

Your wish has been granted. Hope you enjoy it!

It's unfortunate ... but yes.

I'm all for it if Sofia Coppola is doing it. If you saw her (excellent, overlooked) The Virgin Suicides (also starring Dunst) I think she could nail the tone of the original perfectly

The only reason they would remake The Beguiled is because no one is writing any decent scripts. I think The Beguiled is one of Eastwood's best.
