Cause he was banging everyone, heck even the trivia says he had a love affair with one of the actresses in this film.

He was truly DIRTY HARRY

I think he tried but never quite got to "bang" any of the willing women. He almost did but got interrupted and down the stairs he went. You were right it was just a movie about his sex life.

And it's possible that Play Misty For Me was inspired by a real life stalker in Clint life.

John the character had sexual congress with at least one lady in the film. At this point I cannot remember which she was. It's been a decade or longer since I last saw the film.

"Play Misty For Me" was actually inspired by an incident that happened to Jean Shepherd, who wrote the stories from which the classic film "A Christmas Story" was made. Shepherd was a deejay in the late sixties. He read his stories (presumably adapted for the radio audience) and (if I am not mistaken) played jazzy type music the way Eastwood's character did in Misty. Anyway, at some point a female listener became obsessed with Shepherd. I don't know how the situation was resolved, but I'm pretty sure it did involve the woman dying after falling off a cliff and into the ocean.

Yeah, right,lol. However, Clint did say in a bio of his some years ago that he did have a stalker before he was even famous, so maybe that's what interested him in the story to begin with. PLAY MISTY FOR ME is still one of his best movies,regardless.

Plus the woman who wrote the screenplay for PLAY MISTY FOR ME was a friend of Eastwood's too, so that's another reason he was able to get his hands on it and make it----it was also the first film he directed, and he wanted to prove that he could pull it off, so he even took a pay cut to do so, and it paid off. And,yeah, it's one of his best movies,too.
