Reminiscent of Misery?

This movie was very reminiscent of MISERY. I am specifically referring to the part where they chop off half of Clint's let. It's like when Annie Wilkes done a very naughty thing to Paul Sheldon's leg in MISERY. God, everytime I watch that scene where Annie lays into his leg with that monstrous sledgehammer, I STILL wince!

Do any of you agree with me in regard to the similarities THE BEGUILED shares with MISERY?

In a way ... but given that Siegel got there in the 70's I'd say Misery was reminiscent of The Beguiled.

Both great films though.

I was thinking that last night as I was watching it. Kinda reminded me of "Hard Candy" as well.

stephen king might have been influenced with his novel, and rob reiner with his movie. i could imagine both king and reiner loved this film. and the whole vibe of a man being kept by women who at first seem to he helping him, and then end up harming him... there is a 100% relation to both films, and they have lots in common. only thing, james caan didn't kill annie's pig like clint did the turtle. good thing too, for caan.

My roommate said the exact same thing.

Webfix, THE BEGUILED came years before MISERY. Your timeline's way off. That's a pet peeve. Or perhaps you never noticed THE BEGUILED came out in 1971 and MISERY came out in 1990, 19 years later.

Are you someone who pays no attention to time or linear progression? You can't possibly be a Time Lord...they're all trapped on Gallifrey.
