"Sir, there's a multi-legged creature crawling on your shoulder" - Mr. Spock
I was never sure whether the children stayed until years later when I saw the uncut anniversary edition.
The deleted scenes explained that the kids were orphans and also had a song with Miss Price singing about being single and childless. The deleted scenes also had more hints of a romance between Miss Price and Mr Brown.
I think in true Disney style they all ended up living happily together because the children had no family to go back to and Miss Price longed for a family deep down.
The deleted scenes explained that the kids were orphans
I was confused by that as they certainly behave as orphans in need of parents at the end, but they never say they are.
Also, if they were war orphans I don't think they would have been lumped in with the evacuees.
If, as one of the other posts says, in the book they have parents to go back to, this could be explained as hamfisted adaptation/editing.
They do say they're orphans in the uncut version Matey.

Maybe they grew up into religious zealots and stoned Miss Price to death because she was a witch and was threatening to eat them!

"Sir, there's a multi-legged creature crawling on your shoulder." Don't fall for that line, or you'll get the Vulcan Neck Pinch!
Eight divided by one-half equals four squared!
LOL
shareAccording to the book, the children went back to London to be with their parents. In the movie, I assume Miss Price would formally adopt the trio and settle down as a proper family.

Well, in the movie version since they are orphaned, I think they stayed with Miss Price and that when Mr. Browne returned they maybe get married and are a happy family.

Yes, thats what I think as well.
I love Disney movies because you can always depend on them having happy endings!
Supermodels...spoiled stupid little stick figures mit poofy lips who sink only about zemselves.
Not to put a downer on it, but Mr Browne had about five years of fighting on the front to get through. My guess is that, in the real world, there were very slim chances of him returning at all. I know none of my great-grandfathers did. I can't imagine he would have been that adept of a fighter.

Oh, I think Mr. Browne would have survived. He was a real clever fellow.
And remember, if you are badly injured but not killed, they do send you back to your country. I don't think he had to spend the entire 5 years fighting in the war. Also, by 1944, most of the main fighting was really over.
At any rate, in the book, he is supposed to come from the past, and Ms. Price time travels to meet him, and STAYS there with him and marries him. That's sweet, but I prefer how this movie puts them together in the end, at least impliedly.
But you would have to be severely injured to return home from World War II, and you would be looked down upon for not returning to some kind of action as soon as you were well enough again. Besides, the film is set in The Battle of Britain (hence why the children were being evacuated) period of the war, so there was still long years of fighting to go. Again, sorry to put a downer on it, but in the real world, he would almost certainly have been dead by the end of the war. Again, he wasn't a greatly trained soldier. But it's Disney, and they only kill mothers, so...

Actually, I don't believe Mr Brown saw active service. I had always thought he joined the Home Guard---these were the older fellows who took care of things at home while the younger men were overseas fighting. However, others on this board have said that he in fact did enlist.
Still---I don't know that someone his age and in his physical condition and with no previous military training whatsoever would have been sent to the battlefield. I rather think he would have served in some capacity while staying right in England---they needed a heck of a lot of people to run the war from home, remember, and not just fellows in the field.
So, in my mind he was able to stay right there and settle down and marry Miss Price and adopt those kids!
