helped start stallones career?

in 1971, stallone was less than a nobody. within 5 years, he was the biggest thing in hollywood and rocky was the best picture. so i ask, did starring in a popular woody allen movie help jump start his career? what do you think?

I'm thinking it couldn't hurt. Allen's moviemaking cred was just beginning to really take off big then, and even such a minor part in one of his movies had to be a plus on a resume. He did bigger roles in 'Death Race 2000' and 'Lords of Flatbush' after, so he was making progress.

I'd seen this movie in theaters a few times - after 'Rocky' came out the audience would buzz loudly recognizing him.

Stallone wrote Rocky. I think that had about as much to do with launching him as anything since he refused to sell the script unless he was allowed to star in the movie. In other words, if he hadn't written the script we probably would never have heard of him.
