What was that dream about?

Allen describes a dream to his psychiatrist where he is on a cross and exchanges inaudible dialogues with another man on the cross and then a fight breaks out between the groups carrying both the crosses.
I did not get what that dream was about. Could someone explain?

That scene was hilarious, takes the worlds religion problems and reduces it to simple higher primate territoriality.

This guy is one of the original highbrow/lowbrow comedians.
