"There Was Something In That Cockpit That Consumes Plastic."

The Major says this after finding the pilot's arm bone picked clean. I've thought this was odd from the very first time I saw this film in the 70's. He's more concerned with the plastic than the fact that the pilot was apparently "consumed" as well. Uh, excuse me, sir, doesn't whatever it was eat human flesh too?

An interesting read on the goofs:

Forgive me, I'm a little thick headed. I read all the goofs. There are a couple of references to the fighter crash, but nothing about what I stated in my post. Did I miss something?

I re-watched that scene, and although the air force was careless in the investigation of the crash (should have had germ-tight suits on), it appears the organism had mutated/evolved in the high atmosphere (23,000 feet). I did not see evidence of a severe cockpit fire as the windshield was somewhat clear so where was the body of the pilot? Yes, Andromeda had mutated or evolved to consume plastic and perhaps human flesh. When the organism was consuming the seals in Wildfire, had Dutton not hyperventilated to change his ph level, who knows...we might have seen him get consumed too.

I posted the IMDb official goofs on this film just as a point of interest. Maybe there are other inconsistencies waiting to be found.

Nah, he's a scientist, not a medic. And he expected people things, what he did Not expect was plastic eating!

RIP Scott, you are still "Unstoppable"!
