Recording and pre-Nixon tapes
This movie had an interesting sub-plot of recording/government/bugging surveilince and tapes. I thought it ironic that this movie pre-dates Nixon's watergate tapes by 3 years!!!
Good movie, annoying music though
Actually, Quincy Jones' soundtrack is one of the best things about the film.
shareI found it to be very distracting from the film,a very unique a sound that draws the viewer away from the movie to listening to the music, which is hard to avoid.
The score is one of my favorites, I find myself whistling the tune quite often.
I think Steely Dan snatched a little bit of it during the Royal Scam years.
And I didn't even realize it was pre Nixon, putting the dates in place now, that is the writing on the wall for all that taping cover up *beep*
Was pre-Nixon tapes at Watergate hotel, but not 3 years. The Watergate tapes were recorded less than a year after the movie's release. The scandal lasted for a fair while after though. Still, doubt Nixon saw this film on original release and probably avoided it after his troubles.
