Weren't organs in 1921 made with...

...pullstops and not switches? Watching it and the sequel now on Youtube and thought the switches a bit too modern for 1921

Bit late but, Robert Hope Jones invented the Theatre Organ as the Unit Orchestra in the early days of the 20th century. WurliTzer took it on and it went from there. I believe 1914 was the first year of Wurlitzer theatre organ manufacture but might be wrong. Ironically also the year Hope Jones killed himself over a sort of falling out with the Wurlitzer Co. He also invented the electro-pneumatic action whereby the console is detachable and essentially a series of contacts/switches for the hidden pipework. Thus, tabs were a practical proposition. Having played many organs and 2 'real' Wurlitzers (Tower Ballroom, Blackpool and East Sussex National -Ex Organ Stop 4 manuals, 32 ranks- I have to say it is definitely an improvement as regards sound changes.

Not necessarily, but the organ in the movie was most likely not built in 1921.If anyone knows who the actual organist was, please post!
