After Roberto "kills" Carlo Marosi he reads in the following morning paper that a body was found in the river but since Carlo Marosi was not killed (yet)so who was the body?
The body could have been someone who hadn't been identified by the police. It's not unusual to find corpse that need identification.
It's also possible that Nina and her accomplice set Roberto up with a fake article.

This perplexes me as well because I doubt Roberto would have dumped the body in a river with no way to transport it. He most likely left it in the orchestra pit. So why he would assume the body in the river was the one of the man he killed is odd. Unless he thought the person that snapped photos of him dumped the body, it doesn't make much sense.

The killer in The Bird With the Crystal Plumage had been attacked years before. She was put away due to a breakdown, then released when diagnosed as 'normal' again.
Later, she saw the painting of a woman being viciously attacked and it had an impact on her, but instead of identifying with the victim in the painting, she identified with the killer instead, because to identify with the victim would be too much for her.
This is explained in a voice-over by the psychiatrist on the news as the lovers were reunited on the plane to go back to the U.S.
