Does anyone know where I can get a copy of this film that will work on American DvD players. everywhere I go it says that it will not work on an American DVD player.

There are two problems with trying to play European DVDs on an American player and vice versa. The first is that North America and Europe have different TV scanning systems. In America they use the NTSC 525 line scanning system but in Europe the PAL 625 line standard is pretty much universal. Most DVD players, however, can be set up to read both standards. The other issue is DVD region coding, which some countries have outlawed under antitrust/restrictive trade practices legislation. This too can be overcome. Most DVD players have a software code (called a "hack code") that can be entered via the remote handset to disable the region coding. All you need is the exact model number of your player and a Google search on DVD region hack codes.

One major headache for American users trying to get British DVDs, however, is cost. In Britain, DVDs are typically twice the price that you would pay for them in the States. That's good news for us Brits but not so good for you guys over there.

Born in Britain but living in America, I long ago purchased a region-free DVD player which plays any DVD purchased outside the U.S. One of the first DVD's I purchased from Britain was Rillington Place. Waiting for distributors to issue that film over here could take forever. The region-free players can handle coding differences and different scanning systems and they're sold at fairly low prices.
