One thing I WILL credit The Tudors with is spreading out the story and for going OUTSIDE. Can you imagine THE SIX WIVES OF HENRY VIII being told over 40 parts, with all of the original performers, and with the lush outdoor scenes? I would be a masterpiece beyond ALL masterpieces!

reply

Yes you are so right. I just wished a production team did just that rather then this sexual romp. Henry didn't even get older as the story went on....

Ive watched every season of The Tudors and I agree the main problem with the show is encompassed in Jonathan RHys Myers. He is too slight, too young looking, too feminine to play a young Henry and the show refused to age him properly as the show went on. As a result I believe the stories of Anne of Cleves and Catherine Howard were done a disservice; especially Catherine who was just portrayed as a sex fiend and not a teenage girl married to a disgusting old man.

You are so right, Thediscopenguin. I felt the Tudors were a series for the dumb people in our society. Jonathan Rhys Myers was a rotten Henry. The best one by far was Keith Michell. All the women in the Tudors were pretty....and the number of romps in bed(it's called keeping the audience entertained) were part of the production's imagination. Over all it did the memory of Henry a disservice.

I think they both have their good points and bad points. The thing I dislike about this series is that it moves too quickly. I mean, you can't sum up like 20 years in and hour and a half (Queen Katherine of Aragon). They also don't explain the characters very well. I watched this with a friend who only had a basic knowledge of Henry VIII and she was confused at times.

A travesty loaded w/codswallop; my husband was laughing whilr I sputtered in anger at the telly. Typical of me - I was asked to leave a showing of Braveheart for "whispering" too much re the historical errors.
