Has Masterpiece Theatre never actually been a real show?

When you look at Masterpiece Theatre's history, can it be concluded that this program is ONLY an exhibit for imported shows that air on regular networks in the UK like Sky and the BBC?
Upstairs Downstairs
Downton Abbey
Sherlock
Luther
Mr Selfridge

A person from Britain watching these on PBS would think, "That's weird. Why do these shows air under the umbrella of Masterpiece Theatre? These are just regular shows that air on TV in the UK.
It would be like if The Big Bang Theory or Modern Family were tethered to some larger program that enveloped them and then their official title wouldn't simply be the names of their shows but whatever banner they air under.
So that leads me to think, has every single thing Masterpiece Theatre shown come from an outside source?
NOTHING they have shown has ever originated on MT, has it?

Masterpiece (formerly known as Masterpiece Theatre) is a drama anthology television series produced by WGBH Boston.

The success of the broadcast of the 1967 version of The Forsyte Saga on NET (the precursor of PBS) led Stanford Calderwood, then serving as president of WGBH, to investigate whether the BBC would sell programs to the station. Suggestions for the series format came from, among others, Frank Gillard in England and Christopher Sarson in the US. In looking for an underwriter for the series, Calderwood eventually met with Herb Schmertz of Mobil Corporation. Schmertz was able to gain funding for the show and he and several other men, including Frank Marshall, met in London and made a selection of programs to be broadcast.

Decision on the format of the show were finalized and the series premiered on Jan. 10, 1971, with the first episode of The First Churchills.
