Pyrotechnics

Does anyone know how they did the "zap" that Hoodoo possessed? The ball of fire and electricity quickly and visibly moved from his fingers to the object being 'zapped." There was enough fire and sparks to fly and ignite objects -- and provide constant "eye candy." I recall a few scenes where clothing (and Raunchy Rabbit's tail) were actually set on fire and they beat it out with their hands.

All of this playing with fire sounds incredibly risky on a set with such flamboyant costumes and scenery -- and repairs would have been time consuming and expensive.
