Am I the only one who gets this? What better babysitters than 2 brothers on mushrooms.(Sid & Marty) Some people take Saturday morning way too serious. With this in mind watch it again and lighten up.

It's obvious. . . . Remember the cigar-smoking mushroom from 'H.R. PufnStuf'? It was the sixties/seventies man, obviously everyone wrote this s h i t when they were our of their *beep* i n g minds.

And a couple of years ago, Sid & Marty Krofft and one of their writers fessed up that they really were trying to see what they could get by the 'clueless' execs at NBC.

Good on 'em!! I was 6-9 years old when I watched their stuff, and the dope-jokes went right over my head, but it gave my dad a reason to get up on Saturdays & watch TV with us. It was great!

Really? I'd heard in various interviews and read in the book "Saturday Morning Fever" that the Krofts sort of consider themselves the modern Grimm brothers and always responded to allegations of their shows containing drug references and Freudian sexual innuendo by getting indignant and generally taking themselves too seriously. I guess that could have just been an act they put on for decades, or else their remaining fan base is so convinced that those undercurrents were intentional that Sid and Marty finally just told their fans what they wanted to hear, even if it wasn't entirely true.

But yeah, so what if it was true? I doubt they inspired any kids to do drugs that wouldn't have gone down that road anyway. Hell, their shows were such high-octane nightmare-fuel that if you watch a Lidsville, a Puffy, and a Bugaloos before you go to sleep, you have no concievable need for drugs!

To be certain, a lid is the operculum of a moss capsule. I used to get them for about $15 apiece in the early 1970's and usually felt pretty good afterwards.
