DVD

I never saw an episode of this show and am hopeing they put the whole series on a dvd set so I can. They probably wont though since many people forgot about this series. But the 'Jimmy Stewart Show' name along should sell pretty well on curiosity.

I've never seen the show, but apparently it made it through one whole season and 24 episodes were made.

I read from his biography that while it did have decent ratings they wern't big enough to beg for a second season. Also Jimmie didn't have the best shooting schedule compared to Andy Griffith who made his schedule where he shot all his scenes first and then the rest of the cast would shoot their remaining scenes, which made for a lot less rating around. Because of this Jimmie didn't really fight to keep it on. I would love to see this on DVD because I'm a huge JS fan. Does anyone know if theres a petition to get it realeased?

James Stewart made a rare sojourn into the world of Situation Comedy on NBC at the dawn of the Seventies. His gift for comedy, on grand cinema display since the dawn of his career, made him a congenial fit for the familial world of episodic comedy. Stewart plays Professor James Howard, an anthropologist struggling to make sense of the generation gap with his college students and just plain struggling to make sense of his own family.

Jim and wife Martha are busy raising an eight-year-old, as is their twenty-nine-year-old first born, Peter (James Daly) and his wife, Wendy (Ellen Geer). And "Uncle Teddy" (Dennis Larson) is sure to demand "the proper respect" from his five-day-older nephew, Jake (Kirby Furlong). It's a good thing Jim has a Nobel Prize-winning best friend, chemistry professor Dr. Luther Quince (John McGiver) to help make sense of the chaos, especially after a house fire forces Peter's family to move in with Jim's!
In a Christmas Eve gift to fans of the legendary It's a Wonderful Life actor, the Warner Archive Collection has today announced that on January 21st they will release The Jimmy Stewart Show - The Complete Series on DVD. This 606-minute collection on MOD (manufacture on demand) discs will cost $29.95 SRP, and can be pre-ordered right away from the WBshop online studio store (see button link below). The 1971 program ran for 24 episodes and included guest stars such as M. Emmet Walsh, Cesar Romero, Kate Jackson, Alan Oppenheimer, Fran Ryan, Jack Soo, Will Geer, Nita Talbot, Regis Philbin, William Windom and Gloria DeHaven! Our to reader Johnnie J. Young for making sure we had seen this item.
