the 'What are little boys/girls made of?' song

I remember two Short Circus members -- a boy and a girl -- singing that song. It was so funny, they ended up insulting each other.

Does anyone remember who the young actor and actress were?

reply

Yep. The boy was Stephen Gustaphson & the girl was Bayn Johnson. But the characters were Buddy & Kelly.

reply

I remember that song. Yeah, it gets pretty funny, but as an act of responsible script writing, Morgan Freeman and Hattie Winston enter and set them straight. Still pretty good scene!

reply

I remember them too, and yes, Morgan Freeman and Hattie Winston did enter and sing a happier version with them, but I did think the insults were very funny.

Their characters were Buddy and Kelly by the way. He was Buddy, she Kelly.

I recorded the early 1970s Shazam show off TVland and lo and behold, he showed up in an episode as a pathological liar. If he didn't look and act so much like a fellow classmate of mine who was a braggart from first grade on, it may not have been so chilling for me.

She can best be seen today (tho TVland isn't airing them anymore) in the episode of the Love Boat with Will Geer, Anson Williams, Arte Johnson, Pat Morita and Tom POston.

She is the stowaway with Will Geer.

reply

Yeah, I think most people would figure he was Buddy and she Kelly.

reply

Not necessarily. There was a boy and a girl when I was in school, both named Kelly and both with the same last name, and Buddy was Kristie McNichol's name on the seventies show, Family, for which she received Emmy noms.

reply

Yeah, because in reality it says the girls are fine while the boys are made of stupid things so the boy gets pissed and insults her back. It was pretty funny and then the two black adults tell them that was awful (to me, awfully funny) and they correct them with the real things they are made of.

reply

Uh why are you referring to them as the 2 black adults?

Do you not know their names?

reply

Yeah, I was just writing fast. One of them became an Oscar winner. Better now?
