Had Frank never heard of salmonella?

I was watching an episode of "Cannon" yesterday on MeTV. Frank and a woman (his client) were in his apartment where he was cooking an omelette.

Frank held eggs in both hands, broke them and allowed the contents to fall into a copper bowl. He used eight eggs. Immediately after handling the raw eggs with his bare hands and not washing them he handled the pepper mill, the refrigerator door, frying pan and more.

Hadn't anyone on the show ever heard one is supposed to wash their hands after handling raw eggs?
