Why the series stopped ?

Hi, anybody knows about the reason of the end of "Cannon" in 1976 ?
Thank you.

The reason why Cannon was cancelled in 1976?

It wasn't poor ratings since William Conrad wanted to take a break for relax.

The show that replaced it? The variety series called "Cher" which went on to become one of the biggest failures of the mid 1970's.

The shows that were still being produced under the QM(Quinn Martin Productions) banner were:
"The Streets Of San Francisco"-(ABC)
"Barnaby Jones"-(CBS)
"Tales Of The Unexpected"-(NBC)
"Nero Wolfe"-(NBC)

He wanted to end the show...but a few months later he was back in QM's employ, as the narrator for Tales of the Unexpected.
Incidentally, Nero Wolfe had no involvement from QM whatsoever...it was produced by Paramount, with Ivan Goff and Ben Roberts as the producers.
Barnaby Jones and Streets of San Francisco continued after the end of Cannon. The 1976-77 season saw Most Wanted, an ABC series, join the QM canon, followed by Quinn Martin's Tales of the Unexpected on NBC in the middle of that season. Operation: Runaway/The Runaways came midway through the '77-'78 season, and A Man Called Sloane debuted in the '79-'80 season. There were a couple of pilots and a handful of TV movies produced by QM in their later years.

I remember hearing some tapes of old radio shows and they said it was him playing Matt Dillon on the radio version of Gunsmoke. They said he played the role from 1952-1961 and put a lot of himself into the character.

They turned the western upside down on its head showing the cruelty of the old west especially towards women and weaker people.

I don't know everything. Neither does anyone else

Why do you ask?

Expect everything to last forever?
