I've Finally Watched The Series

Having only ever seen the film version throughout the years, I started to watch the series on Youtube about 18 months ago and have now seen every episode.

A quick verdict:

Although it was good to see the legend who was Sid James in action, I think the genuinely-funny moments were few and far between.

There's no doubt it improved a bit after the first series or two but the average number of laugh out loud moments didn't surpass one per episode during any of the series.

I thought they were going to go out in style when the first half of the first episode of the final series was good but that episode petered out, as did the rest of the series!

I've read there were plans for at least two more series of Bless This House, plus another film and I'm sure it was still pulling in a good audience in 1976(granted there wasn't many alternatives for viewers) but I don't go along with the thought that Sid's tragic death deprived us of many great episodes of Bless This House or a great film, for that matter!

I think it was clear the show had run its course come the final series.
