Powderkeg

I don't understand why "Powderkeg" is not a separate listing as a TV Movie, especially if it was released theatrically in the UK as the trivia lists. I remember reading at the time that it was so successful as TV Movie that it was made into a series, no mention that it was a pilot for a possible TV series. Unfortunately for me back then, we always had trouble with TV's breaking down and before the second episode, phfft. So i've never seen the series that I would have loved, as all the positive reviews suggest that it was.

Sets certainly did break down a lot, were heavy to lug to the shop, and were expensive to repeatedly fix. The tubes inside got so hot they could heat a room. My family had a 13 year old GE, that gave up the ghost in 1971 after a Hogan's Heroes episode.

Amazon Prime has remastered the two-hour film. Excellent cast of the Leads and Supporting Cast and a first-rate script make this a real pleasure to watch.

"Amazon Prime has remastered the two-hour film."

My understanding is the transfer is utter crap.

As if it came from a VHS tape.

I recently bought the complete series, still going through the show. I like it. And would like the pilot TV movie. But I'm very hesitant.

That's correct. I've been unable to find a presentation of Powerkeg that looks any better than an early general VHS taped from an old TV signal.
