share Actually I am old enough to remember the first season of All in the Family and many people were confused by that line. They slurred the words and it sounded like "Our la sa ra grey." The actors sang it over and that time they sang the words more clearly.
I can tell if it's a very early episode just by listening to the way they sing the lyrics.
In the first season they sang it in front of a live audience. Not sure if they did a performance of it every week. But I think maybe they did.
Then --- starting with the second season --- they played a taping of one performance (I believe this to be because there was no audience reaction).
I know this for sure because I recently rented season 1 and 2 from my local library.
