Im surprised by all the people here that like that the episodes near the end of the series. The main actors had lost some comedic edge. The housekeeper, the neice, Barney( though I like Alan Melvin in tags), the bar ownership, all didnt click. Its a classic show the first 3-4 years but commonplace after that. And forget Archie Bunkers Place. I watched all the episodes as a kid in first run and that's pretty much the same I thought then too. But then the aitf stinker episides are still better than any sitcoms made now, but that's not saying much.

Housekeeper?What housekeeper? I don't know, I liked the Lionel Steps Out with Archie's niece. I thought it was funny when Archie freaks out when he sees the picure of Lionel and his niece sitting together on the couch...

Uh oh, I hope the OP wasn't referring to Teresa, who was not a housekeeper but a boarder who was a student nurse. Her back story wasn't presented in every episode, so possibly some viewers could have assumed she was a housekeeper, but would they make that assumption if Teresa wasn't Hispanic?

Teresa made flan in one hilarious episode, "chicken chests with chiz" in another, and pescado (fish with the head on it) in another, so maybe that's why the OP thought she was a housekeeper.

The later episodes were excellent. Season 8 and 9 we're very good. Especially 8.

My guess is more than likely that they probably would have gone that route and did a storyline with Teresa being the Bonkers' housekeeper if they stayed with the character...

Actually, the plan was that it was supposed to be Dr. Thatcher (who gave blood for Archie's operation), not Teresa, who was going to move in, only it would've been with the Stivics. I think the actress became unavailable, so they went with Teresa. She was funnier anyway.

I never knew about that. That would have been interesting to see how that would have turned out. I wonder if she would have lasted longer than Teresa or not...

We'll never know. I thought Teresa was a good addition. It wouldn't have bothered me if she remained on the show til the end.

Plus, she was relatively attractive compared to the Jamaican lady.

Well, Teresa was kinda flat-chested, but then again I don't think I would've sat through a porno featuring Dr. Thatcher.

Archie probably resorted to hiring an exterminator. That way, Edith couldn't badger him for killing Marvin.
