robs height

did he have a growth spurt between 1968-71? i have seen him on andy griffth show, gomer pyle ect, and he looks so much shorter.

reply

Maybe everyone in that show is just a lot taller?

RIP Gene Wilder. RIP Robert Vaughn. RIP Carrie Fisher. 2016 is the worst!

reply

The whole cast was short. You didn't even notice how short George Jefferson was until they got their own show and Hemsley was surrounded with tall co-stars.

reply

i considered that, especially sally.i never have looked at his shoes to see if he did something there but if you see him on andy he is short and stocky.

reply

Beverly Hillbillies also (appeared as a hippy in two episodes).

reply

Was he short in that?

RIP Gene Wilder. RIP Robert Vaughn. RIP Carrie Fisher. RIP William Christopher. 2016 is the worst!

reply

I wouldn't say short, but not noticeably tall.

reply

He hunched over quite a bit in AITF.

RIP Gene Wilder. RIP Robert Vaughn. RIP Carrie Fisher. RIP William Christopher. 2016 is the worst!

reply

Some people grow up doing that for some reason.

reply

He was way taller than than Sally. Maybe he was trying to make her feel better.

RIP Gene Wilder. RIP Robert Vaughn. RIP Carrie Fisher. RIP William Christopher. 2016 is the worst!

reply

I don't think he did it intentionally.

reply

Maybe he had a bad back?

RIP Gene Wilder. RIP Robert Vaughn. RIP Carrie Fisher. RIP William Christopher. 2016 is the worst!

reply

I don't think so. He guested on a Rockford Files episode during AITF's sixth season, and he was running and fighting without a problem.

reply

I can't imagine Meathead fighting.

RIP Gene Wilder. RIP Robert Vaughn. RIP Carrie Fisher. RIP William Christopher. 2016 is the worst!

reply

He didn't win, but of course it was against the star of the show.

reply

He was the bad guy against James Gardner?

RIP Gene Wilder. RIP Robert Vaughn. RIP Carrie Fisher. RIP William Christopher. 2016 is the worst!

reply

Lol. Garner.
Not really the bad guy, but he got Rockford into a jam.

Reiner played a college quarterback wanted by the mob for bugging their conference room. He possessed cassette tapes with a ton of incriminating evidence, but tricked them into thinking Rockford had them, whose advertisement as a PI he saw in the yellow pages. After they fought, Reiner fingered Rockford for the murder of Reiner's manager, who the mob killed while hunting for Reiner.

Some fans of the show criticized Reiner being cast as a quarterback, as he didn't particularly resemble an athlete.

reply

Garner. Spell check. Sorry. And I agree with the fans. Reiner does NOT look like an athlete

RIP Gene Wilder. RIP Robert Vaughn. RIP Carrie Fisher. RIP William Christopher. 2016 is the worst!

reply

It's cool seeing him on there though.

reply

Sure. Something different.

RIP Gene Wilder. RIP Robert Vaughn. RIP Carrie Fisher. RIP William Christopher. 2016 is the worst!

reply

I didn't see him on much before he started making his own movies. I remember him on Saturday Night Live. It must've been during season six of AITF. I remember him gloating, announcing how he was enjoying co-starring on the number one show in the country (season six was the last time it was).

reply

No other show has spent so long at the top, though.

RIP Gene Wilder. RIP Robert Vaughn. RIP Carrie Fisher. RIP William Christopher. 2016 is the worst!

reply

And I was there every step of the way (starting with season three's summer reruns anyway).

reply

The Cosby Show was number one for 3 or 4 years. Not bad.

RIP Gene Wilder. RIP Robert Vaughn. RIP Carrie Fisher. RIP William Christopher. 2016 is the worst!

reply

Ugh.
That was a double dose of horror (Cosby and Family Ties). Overly sanitized family-friendly crapola.

reply

I prefer Cosby to Family Ties, but neither are all time faves. Crapola? Channeling your inner Archie there?

RIP Gene Wilder. RIP Robert Vaughn. RIP Carrie Fisher. RIP William Christopher. 2016 is the worst!

reply

I'd like to channel both those shows right down the terlet.

reply

I like shows like that. I'm an equal opportunity show liker.

RIP Gene Wilder. RIP Robert Vaughn. RIP Carrie Fisher. RIP William Christopher. 2016 is the worst!

reply

They're so sanitized it's like they were Saturday morning shows.

reply

Sanitization could be funny.

RIP Gene Wilder. RIP Robert Vaughn. RIP Carrie Fisher. RIP William Christopher. 2016 is the worst!

reply

Made me vomit.
Even Mallory's (I'm surprised I remembered her name) supposed uncivilized low IQ boyfriend was as rough and foul-mouthed as a momma's boy preppy.

reply

It was on for like 7 seasons. So, it couldn't have been too bad. I don't hate it by any means.

RIP Gene Wilder. RIP Robert Vaughn. RIP Carrie Fisher. RIP William Christopher. 2016 is the worst!

reply

Seven seasons! I couldn't bare the few months of it I had to endure.

reply

7 seasons. Michael J Fox beat out Ted Danson for like 4 Emmys during that period. Horrible.

RIP Gene Wilder. RIP Robert Vaughn. RIP Carrie Fisher. RIP William Christopher. 2016 is the worst!

reply

I have nothing against the actors, just the show.

reply

Oh, no. Fox is fantastic. The Back to the Future's, Teen Wolf, and Family Ties, he was good. But better than Danson on 4 separate occasions? Nah.

RIP Gene Wilder. RIP Robert Vaughn. RIP Carrie Fisher. RIP William Christopher. 2016 is the worst!

reply

To be honest, I was never much of a Danson fan. Shelley Long either, until I saw Caveman again (after I saw her in Cheers). Everybody was funny in that.

reply

How...dare...you, sir!

RIP Gene Wilder. RIP Robert Vaughn. RIP Carrie Fisher. RIP William Christopher. 2016 is the worst!

reply

She's OK. I just never liked Diane. I never saw her before when I first saw her in "Caveman". One of the stars in the movie, incidentally, was the second guy to die in the Bunker home, Bernard Bernstein.

reply

The how dare you sir was referring to Ted Danson. He's phenomenal as Sammy.

RIP Gene Wilder. RIP Robert Vaughn. RIP Carrie Fisher. RIP William Christopher. 2016 is the worst!

reply

I never saw him in anything else (I've never seen Becker) except "Creepshow", so I can't really comment on his acting.
We all know how good Fox is from the Back to the Future movies.

reply

He was Good in Damages, and CSI as well, Danson. Not too mention the Three Men and a Baby movies.

RIP Gene Wilder. RIP Robert Vaughn. RIP Carrie Fisher. RIP William Christopher. 2016 is the worst!

reply

I've never seen anything you just mentioned. But I know what they all are, except Damages.

reply

You need to watch more sh!t. Damages was a show on FX with Glenn Close and Rose Byrne.

RIP Gene Wilder. RIP Robert Vaughn. RIP Carrie Fisher. RIP William Christopher. 2016 is the worst!

reply

Never heard of Rose Byrne. Sounds like a flower allergy.

reply

She's pretty popular now. Was in Spy with Melissa McCarthy and others. Bridesmaids.

RIP Gene Wilder. RIP Robert Vaughn. RIP Carrie Fisher. RIP William Christopher. 2016 is the worst!

reply

Never saw those.

reply

Box!

RIP Gene Wilder. RIP Robert Vaughn. RIP Carrie Fisher. RIP William Christopher. 2016 is the worst!

reply

Spies sounds interesting, but Bridesmaids sounds right up there with Beaches.

reply

They were both pretty funny.

RIP Gene Wilder. RIP Robert Vaughn. RIP Carrie Fisher. RIP William Christopher. 2016 is the worst!

reply

One of those things I wouldn't put on myself - someone else would have to be sitting there watching it. Spies sounds interesting though.

reply

Plus it has Jason Statham in it who is decievingly hilarious.

RIP Gene Wilder. RIP Robert Vaughn. RIP Carrie Fisher. RIP William Christopher. 2016 is the worst!

reply

I actually know who he is. I have Death Race on blu-Ray.

reply

He was good in the Expendables 1, 2, and 3 and Spy.

RIP Gene Wilder. RIP Robert Vaughn. RIP Carrie Fisher. RIP William Christopher. 2016 is the worst!

reply

If I saw those I don't remember them.

reply

You have a sieve like brain when it comes to anything except All in the Family it seems.

RIP Gene Wilder. RIP Robert Vaughn. RIP Carrie Fisher. RIP William Christopher. 2016 is the worst!

reply

I've seen a lot of things at people's houses after drinking all day. That accounts for the Altzeimer-like memory.

reply

Tsk, tsk, tsk. Well, at least you're not so bad now.

RIP Gene Wilder. RIP Robert Vaughn. RIP Carrie Fisher. RIP William Christopher. 2016 is the worst!

reply

Now I just go home after drinking all day. I've only had a car for 2 1/2 years (I went several years without one which explains why I was sometimes stuck in places).

reply

You could've walked, or had someone drive you.

RIP Gene Wilder. RIP Robert Vaughn. RIP Carrie Fisher. RIP William Christopher. 2016 is the worst!

reply

People I was with travelled as a group. Unless someone had to go to the hospital or something a departure wasn't in the cards. I did walk a lot, but not if we were in a different town.

reply

Taxi, or a bus?

RIP Gene Wilder. RIP Robert Vaughn. RIP Carrie Fisher. RIP William Christopher. 2016 is the worst!

reply

I took a taxi back and forth to work frequently. I worked in the next town over, but there was none available to take me home if I worked at night, so I made the hour-long walk.
I always walked to the place I partied - it was in town, but sometimes we'd jump in cars from the place and hang out in someone's out of town apartment.

reply

Worked off all those booze doing all that walking.

RIP Gene Wilder. RIP Barbara Hale. You were great in Perry Mason. RIP William Christopher.

reply

Sometimes I'd work sixteen grueling hours before walking home.
But sometimes co-workers would give me rides. Most lived in the opposite direction though.

reply

So, they was doing you a favor. That's nice.

RIP Gene Wilder. RIP Barbara Hale. You were great in Perry Mason. RIP William Christopher.

reply

Sometimes they'd only take me half way or ask for gas money.

reply

That's reasonable. They didn't have to drive you.

RIP Gene Wilder. RIP Barbara Hale. You were great in Perry Mason. RIP William Christopher.

reply

Horrible job, made worse by outrageous family business favoritism.

reply

The restaurant?

RIP Gene Wilder. RIP Barbara Hale. You were great in Perry Mason. RIP William Christopher.

reply

Yah. The job was always horrible. I worked there through most of the '80s. Swore I'd never return, but in 2004 I was unemployed and went back. I was supposed to search for better employment once I was there, but I got lazy. The following year the owner died of cancer, so the Greek guy that ran the day shift (who previously owned his own place) took over. He brought his kids in who recently graduated and it was a horror show dealing with the family thing. I was getting paid great, but I knew I'd walk out eventually.

reply

Money wasn't worth it, I guess.

RIP Gene Wilder. RIP Barbara Hale. You were great in Perry Mason. RIP William Christopher.

reply

One reason I stayed as long as I did was that
I knew the kids wanted me out of there (the older one was the unofficial assistant manager and I refused to kiss his ass as others did). But when I know somebody's plotting behind my back to try to either get me to quit or have me fired, it makes me determined to bust their balls by covering my ass and countering their moves to make them suffer with my continued presence.
But finally the last straw showed itself.

reply

i don't think he was wearing his toupee on ROCKFORD. i cant remember if he had the mustache. he didn't have it for few episodes on A.T.F. so maybe he shaved it off for that.

reply

No, he had his moustache on Rockford, but not his toupee. He made that guest appearance during AITF's sixth season. He shaved off his 'stache during the seventh.

reply

Then grew it back instantaniously(sp).

RIP Gene Wilder. RIP Barbara Hale. You were great in Perry Mason. RIP William Christopher.

reply

The reason he shaved it off was he was tired of people recognizing him in public. They'd keep pointing and yelling "Meathead!". He didn't see the humor in it.

reply

Then he grew it back again like right away, so he couldn't have been that upset.

RIP Gene Wilder. RIP Barbara Hale. You were great in Perry Mason. RIP William Christopher.

reply

Or successful.

reply

Think he would be unsuccessful without his mustache?

RIP Gene Wilder. RIP Barbara Hale. You were great in Perry Mason. RIP William Christopher.

reply

I meant people might've recognized him anyway, or it turned out to be a hassle keeping it shaved. I don't know.
In an interview, Betty Garrett reminisced how Jean and Carroll couldn't eat at area restaurants during lunch break at the studio because they'd get mobbed with fans. But she and Reiner would go, and Rob would remove his toup and neither would be recognized. But that was probably before 9/76 when the earlier seasons were syndicated.

reply

His toupee was very good. You'd never know.

RIP Gene Wilder. RIP Barbara Hale. You were great in Perry Mason. RIP William Christopher.

reply

Absolutely. I hope he donated it to a worthy person.

reply

I don't have it. Lol.

RIP Gene Wilder. RIP Barbara Hale. You were great in Perry Mason. RIP William Christopher.

reply

Hopefully I never will. I have a small thin spot near the top, but I don't expect it to expand. My brother has it too.

reply

And he's older?

RIP Gene Wilder. RIP Barbara Hale. You were great in Perry Mason. RIP William Christopher.

reply

I'm the oldest. And the smartest.
