Why not Geoffrey Duel?

I know how long it's been since Pete Duel killed himself but I saw his brother, Geoffrey, in some TV Western a while back and thought that they should have replaced Pete with Geoffrey, rather than Roger Davis. Does anyone know if it was even considered?

Opinions?

I don't think they were interested in getting someone like Pete to do the part. The powers that be seemed to be against Pete at the time of his death and it was convenient to replace him with someone already involved with the show. Davis was the narrator and had done guests shots on the show. I would have liked to see if Pete's real life brother would have done a good job.

I personally think it would have been better to write the character Pete played out of the show and writing in a new character.

Filming started only 12 hours after Pete's death. Which is bad enough, I hope the tv execs wouldn't have been so callous to ask his brother if he wanted the job. But at the same time I agree with you. Catch 22.

I know Geoffery Deuel (Pete change his surname to Duel!) offen got mix-up with his brother and a lot of people think that it's Pete Duel in the John Wayne western Chisum but it's Geoffrey. I think it would have been a bit heartless on the studio if they offer it to him but having said that they did look like identical twins and maybe they should of ask him ( Geoffrey was two years younger).
