Trivia mistake?

In the trivia it says that 'George Peppard was also in the running to replace actor Pete Duel before Roger Davis was chosen.'

According to what I've read Davis started filming as the replacement within days of Duel's suicide, if not the following day.

Doesn't this mean that the Peppard trivia must be incorrect?

Not sure, but I know there is some connection between Peppard and series creator Roy Higgins-the Peppard character in The A Team being named Hannibal is not a coincidence.
