Tarantino is lazy

Having just seen Companeros and Django Unchained back to back, i'm stunned how lazy Tarantino is. I didn't hate or dislike Django Unchained but Tarantino is just lazy. His movies got nothing on the originals he is drawing from.
Django and Companeros > Django Unchained is what i'm saying.

It's a pretty old argument these days to say stuff like Tarantino is lazy. Yes, Tarantino pays homage, or in some people's eyes outright rips off, scenes and moments from other films and genres, but he doesn't hide it.

Yes, Django Unchained is inspired by spaghetti westerns but the plotline is completely original so to say he's lazy is wrong. The storyline is original but done in the style of a spaghetti western cross-pollinated with 70s plantation exploitation films like Mandingo.

What's also amusing is using the Django name but having nothing to do with the original Django character (other than the cameo by Franco Nero) as it's in keeping with all of the Django "unofficial sequel" rip-offs that came out in the 60s and 70s after the success of the original.

You could also say that Corbucci is lazy because Companeros borrows so many distinctive elements from his earlier film the Mercenary.

I agree.

also, every filmmaker steals or "borrows", knowlingly or not, from other movies that came before. it's in the nature of art.

Typical. If QT wasn't as acclaimed and his films flops or moderate hits people like you would praise him. But because he's so popular the cool thing is to knock him.
