Song question

So, for one of only several times watching a movie, I finished Zabriskie Point and thought, "whoa, what the f*ck was that?" Meaning I was blown away by the use of the camera and sound, and the very end is a trip. But what I was wondering was what the title to the Pink Floyd song was during the explosion sequence? It sounded like one of the songs in the Live at Pompeii movie, but I couldn't tell which it was (it didn't sound like Careful with That Axe, Eugene, or maybe it did).

The song is called "Come in, Number 51, Your Time is Up". It is essentially the exact same as "Careful With That Axe, Eugene" except that Roger Waters doesn't say that essential line, he just whispers a bit and then goes straight for that classic scream. So you were pretty much right 'cos of course "Careful..." is on the "Live at Pompeii" movie. I feel that "Pompeii" and "Zabriskie" would make an excellent double feature because of not only Floyd but the use of their music against sprawling ancient wastelands...very, very cool...oh yeah, the "Zabriskie Point" soundtrack is available on CD as a double set with not only all the songs from the movie (except the Rolling Stones song 'cos of some sort of copyright problem) but also included are FOUR PREVIOUSLY UNRELEASED FLOYD SONGS that never made it into the movie!! One of which is as grand as anything they've ever done.

Thanks a bunch, I'll have to seek that out (I know the Dead did a few songs on the CD- I'm not a big fan, but I am with P Floyd, almost all their stuff, even though I haven't dug too deep into their pre-dark side period). Live at Pompeii was what reminded me of it, the sound of the song very surreal with Waters' wailing.

The song is called "Come in number 51, your time is up" It's a remake of Careful with that axe, Eugene. Originally from the album Ummagumma

Actually, the version of "Careful With That Axe, Eugene" on Ummagumma is a live version. The original studio version was released as a B-side single but is also available on the compilation Relics.

I think that song is ahead of it's time... I mean, it starts with a slow beat, much like today's trip-hop genre or chill-out, it kinda reminds me of Air (except for the ending). Simply beautiful... But then again, I don't listen to much of the 70's music so I can't really tell if this is an exception or there are many songs from that time like it...

You should definitely check out some of Pink Floyd's early stuff then (early as in pre-Dark Side), cause it's loaded with that 'ahead-of-its-time' vibe.
