a clip was in 'Juno'

In the film "Juno," Mark Loring (Jason Bateman) shows a clip of this film to Juno (Ellen Page.) He also says that this film is a Herschell Gordon Lewis film.

reply

yeah, i was wondering which one that was.

reply

I was actually surprised they could show a clip and keep a PG-13 rating. Someones stomach gets drilled in the scene they show. Bloody.

Cinefantastique reviewed JUNO on the basis of this clip. It's not normally their kind of film, bu the WIZARD OF GORE footage caught their attention.

As long as there were no female nipples shown, it's ok since female nipples are considered to be much worse than mutilation in America.

reply

Amen!

reply

I was happy to see it. It almost made the movie worth watching. What an overrated pile of crap (Juno, not Wizard of Gore).

reply

Yeah, that was cool. I think it passed with a PG-13 rating since it was shown on a TV screen, so it's clearly not really happening.

reply

It's clearly not really happening in WoG either. Juno got away with showing the clip because it's a big studio film.

"Yeah, that was cool. I think it passed with a PG-13 rating since it was shown on a TV screen, so it's clearly not really happening."

And being in black and white, helps too.

reply

It's not black and white?

reply

no, wizard of gore is definitely in color, but the clip in juno may have been changed to black and white, that i dont remember

reply

GOOD LORD; I AGREE WITH YOU SO MUCH

That was my favorite moment in the whole movie. Not to turn the thread in the wrong direction, but if I hear another person mention some band or say "fave," I am going to drill my own bleeping stomach.

But at least I got this out of it.

And it hardly qualifies as indie if every actor in it has been in everything else ever.

THE END

I really want to see this movie!!!!

I worship the goddesses Brandi Ryan & Elisha Cuthbert!
My #1 fave actor is an even tie between the amazing, hot, & phenominal Chris Marquette & Jared Leto.

Great exposure for this film! I imagine video stores specializing in rare movies will see a lot of demand for this movie!

reply

You would think so, wouldn't you? I own that type of video store - we have just about every HG Lewis film that has been put on video, but to the best of my knowledge no one has come in lately asking for WIZARD.

reply

To the people who say JUNO was an "overrated piece of crap" then you seriously need to think hard about what you're saying. The Wizard of Gore is a good movie too. I own it, and I love it. but JUNO is also a good movie, you people can't compare a movie like JUNO to a movie like the wizard of gore, so stop doing that.

reply

No suprise there as that diablo cody chick likes these low-budget grindhouse features.

Quentin, next time make something that is "Ego-Proof"

reply

Hehe, it is, that's what got me to come on here. The movie actually sounds pretty cool. And Juno is awesome.

reply

that's what made me watch this!

I had never heard of it

so thanks to Juno I saw it

reply

I just saw Juno today and had never heard of Wizard of Gore before it. Since I am, apparently, becoming somewhat of a gorehound, I'm now forced to watch it. Rather looking forward to watching it actually.

And I agree with the other poster.. although I have yet to see Wizard of Gore, I find it hard to believe that it's better than Suspiria. (Blood & guts, of course, a good movie does not make.)

The real trick to life is not to be in the know, but to be in the mystery. -Fred Wolf

reply

and it's definitely not better than suspiria; sorry, juno/diablo cody.

reply

I actually wonder which movie Diablo Cody favors the most. She might bring more insight on it on her web blog.
But I think The Wizard of Gore is better than Suspiria, even though Suspiria is a brilliant film, I don't think you can compare the two really. They are very different in tone and style.
I just found myself enjoying "Wizard" more. It's a fun movie.

oh, and I agree with Juno not being an indie film, but just because there are hot A-list names in it doesn't mean it's a big studio film. it was produced for about $2.5 million and it's an original script by a first time screen-writer.
and yes I acknowledge the fact that it's also a 20th Century Fox release, but as far as I know, they just distributed it.
