The swords?

In an age where there was no cgi, how did they make it look like the magician was shoving those swords down there throat? It was worth watching just for that. Even if they were real sword swallowers it looks like he's shoving it down their all crazy. Neato

As I was pointing out in another post, the "women" looked like mannequins to me if I remember correctly.

Question your prejudices.

They looked like mannequins only at certain intervals... during the scenes where they were gagging out their intestines while Montag was shoving the sword down each throat, they looked like they were people.

And that scene almost made me gag, myself.

Actually, women are not mannequins. Swords were some kind of magicians equipment, they bend very easily and roll in to small space in the actors mouth. At least that was the H. G. Lewis's explanation on the commentary track.

IMO that sword-swallowing scene and the eye-squeezing shot are probably the most disgusting and brutal shots in Lewis's movies. I didn't find even The Gore Gore Girls that bad.

The swords looked like measuring tapes to me. Flexible and retractable
