what oikoumene of course meant is that Белое солнце пустыни or the white sun of the desert and Бриллиантовая рука or brilliantovaya ruka are of course the undisputed runway leaders of ordinary plain people with frostbitten cheeks when they vote for the most favourite russian films in any kind of polls. "the entire output of Эйзенштейн or even Тарко́вский" and other soviet avantgardists are as far as they are concerned the favourites of film critics, highbrow intellectuals or sophisticated cultural elitists (and even most of them fall asleep over tarkovsky´s mirror...) which have nothing to do with popular (vulgar) taste. so kindly pay regard to the original point of view.
