IMO the FX work is much better in this one. But I do like both too.
Are there more movies like these?

You're not the only one who thinks WDRTE is better than OMYBC.

When Dinosaurs Ruled the Earth is faster-paced, better directed, much more interesting, and a great deal sexier, even though the two plots are basically the same. Hardly a great film, but the only thing One Million Years B.C. has going for it are Ray Harryhausen's effects -- which aren't as good as those in most of his other films -- and Raquel Welch. The female leads in Dinosaurs don't have her star power but are at least as sexy, and the special effects are virtually as good.

By the way, Creatures the World Forgot was recently made available on Sony's Columbia Classics label, their MOD series of high-quality DVD-Rs, like Warner Archives. These films are sold by most outlets and are also available through Warner Archives itself, which Sony uses as its direct outlet for the Columbia films.

I'm a bit divided. One Million Years B.C. has a better story structure and it's much easier to follow what the characters are saying to one another in a given context. The allosaurus scene is arguably the best action sequence in either film, but this film had consistently more exciting scenes with its special effects. (You didn't get a brontosaurus showing up and just walking off screen.)

At the same time, this film is a lot sexier. The special effects are just as good if not better. I think this one was a little more unpredictable and that made it interesting to see what would happen next. I don't know if I prefer Raquel Welch or Victoria Vetri, but I think this film made a better use of its female lead than One Million Years B.C. did.

Six one, half a dozen for the other?

No, I recall this being better than the film with Welch and what's-his-name. This film, believe it or not, has a certain realism to it, whereas One Million used a lot of stage shots for exterior scenes, giving it a kind of fake look that a lot of movies from the 50s and 60s tended to have.
