Music heard in the movie...

1) Anthony Quinn sings "I Ride an Old Paint" aka "Old Paint" as he's driving home (the scene before he shows her the squirrel); he sings a bit more when giving her moonshine.

The three of them sing it again when they're tipsy on moonshine/sour mash.

2) The other songs on the radio didn't sound familiar; but, when they are coming back from the city~he's asleep, and she's driving~and she switches radio stations, I immediately recognized the voice of Michael (Mike) Nesmith. It's The Monkees' "What Am I Doin' Hangin' 'Round?"!

3) On their way to the fair, Quinn sings "Fair and Tender Ladies".

4) By the way, the girl is being accompanied while singing "Shenandoah" by ladies on mountain dulcimers. Of course, the song is listed, but a lot of people have never seen a dulcimer.

The banjo tune sounds so familiar, but I can't place it.

5) Then, there is the theme song, "A Walk in the Spring Rain". So far, I haven't found any information about it.

Under the soundtrack listing it said music was by Elmer Bernstein, lyrics by Don Black and sung by Michael Dees for the song "A Walk in the Spring Rain."

I must have missed that somehow. I saw "Shenandoah" listed, but not that. I must have been distracted. I missed the opening of the film, but I figured that the song surely was used there, too.

I generally, check out full credits as soon as I come to IMDb. My fibrofoggy mind failed me~again. *giggle*

The title song, with music by Elmer Bernstein, lyrics by Don Black and vocal by Michael Dees, was issued on a 45-rpm single at the time of the film's release on the bell records label (B-887).
In 2009, the Varese Sarabande label released Elmer Bernstein's complete score for the film on CD (VCL09091100). That is, all of Bernstein's original music, not including the versions of "Shenandoah" or "Come All Ye Fair and Tender Ladies" referred to above.
