Bailed Out Five Minutes In

Well ... maybe 7. However many to the bar scene where the Navy lifer is giving JWoodward
his too-long-at-sea eye. I like to think I'm not a complete prude but that guy (Btw same as the Navy lifer dude in The Last Detail?) creeped me out. I felt in need of a good scrubbing and in that one shot lost ALL interest in watching any more of WUSA.

In the few minutes before then, the opening credits were an unappealing and/or unattracting cacophony of color & scenery that put me off rather than drew me in to the upcoming story. Not a good opening reel - at all.

Then the scene with PNewman and LHarvey in the Drunktank Missionary was just bad as in not good. Cool Hand giving some less than Oscar worthy line reads in my humble ... (And don't get me wrong a big fan I am.)

Never been to NOLA no plan to either tho I hear the place has good gumbo, but this concoction of whatever it was/is seemed a bad stew from the first ingredient. A tip of a spoonful of it was all I needed to signal the waiter for my check.

PS - I can - and have - sat thru and thoroughly enjoyed PLENTY of Paul Newman movies and consider at least 3 of them (Hombre, Sometimes A Great Notion, and Somebody Up There Likes Me) all-time favorites. Just a FWIW ...

7 minutes? You should be embarrassed for posting that. FWIW, you missed a good film.

PS - that fourth paragraph is cringe-inducing.

Re the PS - I dunno ... I kinda liked it.
Then again, I get my inspiration from the, "It was a dark & stormy night ..." school of creative writing. ;-)

Will say that second "of" annoys me too reading it again now.
