Ever be released on DVD?!?!?!

I assume Criterion has this on their "to do" list since the only Bunuel they've done so far are his French films. If I could think of any movie in need of a audio commentary it's this one. I'm not braindead on the religious ideas in it but there's far too many that I'm unfamiliar with.

Bunuel seems to get the shaft with the DVDs. Sure criterion got some of them out, but so many, especially some of the greats are not there especially from Mexican times. This can be due to the fact that they require lots of restoration, seeing the poor picture quality and often invisible subtitles (Exterminating Angel comes to mind).

Fortunately, Criterion will be releasing Viridiana in Feb. Let's hope for more of his Mexican era films. I've also heard that Criterion acquired the rights to The Milky Way, so a release in the near future seems highly likely.

If you go on dvdaficionado.com you'll see that the movie is planned to be released,(along with 2 other of his movies: Tristana and The Exterminating Angel) but the studio that is releasing them are, "To Be Announced"

LOL. I actually submitted those 3 films on dvdaf.com. That does not necessarily mean they are going to be released anytime soon. They're just like place holders. As soon as they are announced by a studio (likely Criterion, Image, Lorber, or HVE), dates will be added to those listings. But I wouldn't hold my breath.

It's a triple pack which includes belle de jour and diary of a chambermaid. Pricey, but worth it!

Mind you, thee are 2 different Buñuel triple packs, pay attention, you don't want to ordr something you already have...

Criterion released The Milky Way in 2007 apparently in a small batch and promptly deleted it. It is 2015 now, and copies are only available on the aftermarket at steep prices. The same goes for The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie, The Phantom of Liberty,That Obscure Object of Desire, and Diary of a Chambermaid. Simon of the Desert, Viridiana, The Exterminating Angel and Belle du Jour remain in the catalog. So the core late surreal works (Milky Way, Discreet Charm and Phantom) were briefly in print then out again.
