This film had everything. Dom DeLuise, Frank Langella, Ron Moody... a great comedy director ... So what went wrong?

The problem is that Brooks liked the book too much, he paid it too much reverence. He should have taken the very basic premise of the book and thrown away almost everything else. Then we could have had a film similar to 12+1 but with a more appropriate cast and crew. Then I think we could have had a great film.

I disagree that anything went wrong with this movie - I like it very much, have imbibed lines and moments from it for my very own and think the development between Langella and Moody is quite strong and lovely.

For my part, I believe this is a great film already.
