Danny DeVito Friend of Warhol Crowd?

So, after Jane Forth incorporated Danny DeVito's name into her Detroit high school story, it got me wondering. Danny was about 25 years old and was a student at New York's American Academy of Dramatic Arts in the early 60s. Around the time the film was shot, was just before Danny started getting regular movie gigs.

Does anyone know if he was part of the Andy Warhol crowd? I don't remember him ever mentioning it.

Life is never fair, and perhaps it is a good thing for most of us that it is not.

I also don't remember any one else mentioning it. It isn't mentioned in any of the books on the Factory that I've read. I suspect that the name was a coincidence.
