Questions about the non-MST3K version

Since I have never watched this movie without Tom, Mike and Crow, I just wonder if some of the plot holes are addressed in the non-MST3K version. And I don't know why I even care, but here goes:

1. Is it ever explained that Lucinda was dabling in the dark arts back in the day?
2. Melissa was terribly protective of her sister, Lucinda, and she and the whole family seem to have been tolerating her homicidal tendencies for a long time before the arrival of Jody to their walnut ranch. Why suddenly did Melissa decide that her sister was better off dead?
3. Have the Stricklands always lived in the same place? If so, how have they explained why Melissa never seems to age?

I have to agree with another poster. This movie did have potential, but was cursed with bad acting, bad directing, bad writing and TERRIBLE lighting.

1.)Think that's why the townsfolk were burning down the home in the first place.

2.)Maybe they'd just had enough.

3.)Her actual name is Melissa MacLeod of the Clan MacLeod she was born in 1518 in the village of Glenfinnan on the shores of Loch Shiel. And she is immortal.....think they'd buy it?

"Kid, don't threaten me. There are worse things than death, and I can do all of them."

I was confused about the whole aging thing, too. The whole family seems to be immortal (except when it comes to fire), but Lucinda ages from young woman to freakishly old lady, the parents age from middle-aged to slightly older, and Melissa doesn't age at all.

I was pretty curious about the first and second question also. Seeing as a lot of "witches" were burned just on simple thought of them being a witch, that maybe she wasn't. But, at the same time, during the dream/flashback, Lucinda is like, "They're coming for me!" So, I'm not entirely sure.

As for the second question, I really don't think it's tolerance so much, because in the beginning when Lucinda comes home from a killing, she seems pretty upset and lectures about the killings and how it's too much. I think it's partially the contract, loving her sister, and selling her soul just to save her. So, it's not really tolerance as they feel they have to protect themselves and also their contract.

The aging thing really confused me, you'd think someone would be like, "Hey, you've been the same age since my great, great grandmother was in diapers, what's up?" But, they could also be fearful of the wrath of the witch. But the house does look different somewhat when you see the flashback, so maybe they did move at some point, or the house has just changed as time went on.

I also feel I have to agree this movie has a lot of potential, the budget was so low that they really couldn't seem to do more with it. Although, I don't think the acting was that bad for first time actors, as it was Michael Berry and Emby Mellay's first roles. Sometimes they did seem a bit over dramatic, and sometimes they seemed like they forgot their lines. Either way, it was pretty decent, and I thought it was one of the better ones they showed.
