If anyone is curious where Saratoga (CV-3) was...

The film mentions that Enterprise and Lexington were on recon patrol, and had delivered planes to Midway and (Guam? Wake? Both?) but doesn't mention Saratoga. Saratoga was in San Diego. I know this because my father was a naval aviator who was stationed there and was supposed to ship out to Pearl Harbor later that week, but shipped out on Saratoga on December 8th instead. He was assigned to Lexington (CV-2; Saratoga's sister ship) and fought in the Battle of the Coral Sea, where he was awarded the Navy Cross for helping attack and sink the IJN Shoho.
What a different time that was.

Enterprise delivered 12 F4F-3 Wildcats to Wake Island.

Yes, Saratoga was in San Diego. But 2 weeks later she came close to being the first US carrier to see combat, near Wake Island.

 Entropy ain't what it used to be.
