Bad Editing/Directing

They complete the attack and destroy the transmitter ... and are on the run ... in the dark. Conventional wisdom says get away ASAP because they are coming for ya. But no ... suddenly our boys are spying on a Japanese fighter squadron on the edge of airfield in mid day. That is some bad editing!
