unsung classic

This film chills me to the bone. It packs a mean punch for a old film and in my opinion vastly superior to the similar but later RIVERS EDGE. Director Barry Shear (besides being involved with cop shows like POLICEWOMAN/ GET CHRISTIE LOVE etc) also is responsible for directing another classic ACROSS 110TH STREET. fans of bleak depressing cinema (la COMBAT SHOCK, TAXI DRIVER) should check this out and see a true pioneer of misery cinema. Awesome in every way.Why there isnt huge cult following for this film (as with WHEN YOU COMIN BACK RED RYDER) I will never know... check it out.

There IS a following and I'm part of it. Definitely a better picture as a whole than River's Edge. I really dig this movie. Got the poster on my wall! Shear also did WILD IN THE STREETS, which is silly but a lot of fun! THE TODD KILLINGS should be rereleased on DVD, there are so many inferior B type flicks available...

Subject of a song by the Angry Samoans. I haven't seen it though.

One of the most nihilistic films ever made. Many misidentify it as a Charles Mansonesque film. It's actually based on the infamous Pied Piper of Tuscon case. It is brilliant in its own way, and should definitely be released as a widescreen DVD.

This movie scared the sh*t out of me and haunts me to this day. There is something very realistic about this movie. I watched it once and I've never forgotten it.

Agreed. This film is one of the single most potent and disturbing films ever made about adolescent malaise, aimlessness, and sheer unadulterated nihilism. It speaks volumes about misguided hero worship and the underlying misogyny existent in American culture.
