I saw this movie at the base theater while stationed in a southern Marine Corp base. We all hooted and hollered and wanted to go to the car pool to check out a tank and flatten the surronding towns. This movie was a dream come true for all most two hours (For the lot of us). For people not in our predicament I can understand this movie not getting much attension. For an ex-serviceman from the North stationed in the south this movie should not be dissmissed. It's a great way to spend 1:52.
Quite entertaining.

This is a very entertaining film, for "basers" and "townies" alike. It captures the tensions between the military and the locals quite well, and both sides come across as pretty ridiculous. It also has quite a bit to say about race relations. There's some slapstick and some romance along with the serious social satire.

I remember this playing on television in the '70s, but I just found a VHS for 50 cents in the clearance bin, and it was money well spent. A great lost gem with a superb cast.

"Can I Do It 'Till I Need Glasses" is a real hoot – not a great film, or even a very good one, but a real hoot! Sometimes you just need to laugh, whether or not the jokes are very good. There were a lot of entertaining films like that in the late '60s and early '70s, many of them forgotten by now.

There is a short clip of this on Youtube. I had no idea what it was, so I came to IMDB. I've always wanted to see this film because of the stars, especially Suzanne Pleshette, Brian Keith and Tony Curtis.

The reviewer gave it only one star. But I've liked many a film that doesn't tickle other people's fancy or that is forgotten too soon. Glad those on this thread liked it anyway.
