This movie must be great

The Man has arranged to stifle its DVD release to this very day, ensuring that no nascent activists get any bright ideas.

reply

Although I can see why this would be said by some concerning its release onto DVD, I do believe the main issue is the unliscenced music contained in the film, and we all know today how sensitive the issue of music copyright is.

reply

I'd say the lawyers who control music licensing have a lot in common with The Man. Actually, they are The Man (except for those who are The Woman).

reply

I suspect a lot of the student activists in this film are now working for The Man. Fight the power!

reply

Agreed. Unfortunately, a lot of the real-life activists from that era have given up the ideals and become The Man. At least the actors had an excuse.

That's why you and I don't see eye-to-eye sometimes, Jack; because you're a man of science.

reply

The best way to fight "The Man" is to steal his music and films.

"Copyright" is a theory, not a law.

The Computer Age is the real revolution.

Fight their power with your own digital resistance.

Ideas can not be owned.

"Wasn't it a millionaire who sang 'imagine no possessions?'

reply

That's a great point. Good thing I taped the film.

That's why you and I don't see eye-to-eye sometimes, Jack; because you're a man of science.

reply

That's the spirit Sandoz. Now put your money where your mouth is and upload a high quality copy of this film on a bittorrent site.

reply

The problem with that theory is that by reducing the equation to "The Man," you wind up stealing the work of talented artists as well. Copyright is indeed a law, and our ideas are our own.

reply

This movie is so deep in the dustbin of history that it ought just to be in the public domain, with all due respect to CSN and Thunderclap Newman.

reply

CSN (and Y even!) and Thunderclap Newman are probably what's keeping this out of the public domain. I'd hate to see it reissued without the soundtrack, which is killer. Helpless, helpless, helpless ...

reply

Just what was that something that was in the air? Whatever it is, it means we have to get together sooner or later.

reply

And you know that it's right. That certain "something" is better felt than analyzed, because once you look at it too closely, that song loses some of its awesomeness.

reply

Thunderclap Newman = Pete Townsend's bad finger

reply

I guess so, but I love them (and Badfinger as well). I even have singer "Speedy" Keen's solo efforts. Good stuff.
