Can someone please identify the location of the canal scenes - start of movie as the eldest son travels home and the scene where Mum sets off to throw herself in the canal.
I understand the canal system in Bolton no longer exists other than a footpath walkway. Did they shoot the canal scenes on a canal not in the Bolton district?

The scene where Daisy Crompton is standing under the canal bridge was filmed at Nob End, Little Lever near Bolton. This is about 6 miles from the location of the house used as the Crompton family home.
The part of the Manchester, Bolton & Bury canal from Church Wharf in Bolton to Darcy Lever has been filled in. The aquaduct at Darcy Lever was blown up many years ago. On the other side of Nob End the canal was filled in & a warehouse belonging to a paper mill was built on the site.
