I actually liked this movie! A lost classic

I recall all the bad publicity surrounding this movie way back when, so with much curiosity, I decided to catch this one on late night tv. This was back in the mid 80s. Because that's the last time I have ever seen it, I really don't recall much. However I do remember liking it.(Great music, great scenery, pleasing performances from a pleasing cast). And most importantly, spent countless hours wondering what was wrong with it.

The Song of Norway is rather siginificant in my moviegoing life as I came to the final realization that no matter how many negative reviews a movie received from the critics or from the public, its my own private opinion that matters.
I have seen many other movies with the same critical reputation which I decided I liked, and that was it. I was happy with the film, and that's where it stands.

So perhaps I can find this on DVD one day I'll be happy to revisit a lost classic!!

Bingo. Saying "but critics agree with me!" makes no sense. People can´t make their own opinion? Lord!

“Look, you don’t really think that I could be in love with a rotten little tramp like you, do you?”

Well, I am afraid my opinion is in line with the critics. I thought it was one of the worst movies I have ever seen. If they had just cut all the actors out of it and released it as a travelogue, it might have had a chance to make a bit of the money back spent on making it.
