Little snob - Big snob

Being British born myself, parts of the interview with the three boys made me gag...particularly the boy that wanted to go to parliament! The last thing Britain needs is to continue to sending the privileged class into political office to make decisions that are right for the majority of the population. Thank God I got out! Kids like him deserve to be beaten up for their milk money! Pompous little spoiled rotten kid!!!

Do you mean John? If you do, John wasn't as privileged as they made him out to be, actually. He talked about that in later shows.

I am in a thousand winds that blow,
I am the softly falling snow.

I believe that to be false. John never denied being privileged. Although he revealed his father passed away when he was 8 and implied that his mother became working class, he came from a wealthy Bulgarian family and surely inherited wealth. He also boasted about being well traveled at 21 which would take a certain about of financial stability. The series never made him out to be part of the royal family, but he did come from a very wealthy family. He has maintained that privilege alone doesn't guarantee success.

They didn't have a choice about being born privileged (to whatever degree). As far as what they did with their lives, I hardly think that they could be described as spoiled. They all worked hard for their success. And should being born into the "privileged class" disqualify one from political office, regardless of one's capabilities? John has amply demonstrated his capability. Far from being a "spoiled rotten kid," he has done a great deal of good. I, for one, would be glad to vote for him if I were in a position to do so! Know what a reverse snob is, Micky3737? Take a look in the mirror!

Yeah, I don't think John is as big a snob as he's made out to be. When the other 7 year-olds were thrown together for a party, John remarked that while he didn't care for their accents, it didn't prevent him from liking them. Also, regarding race relations, he did say that color is no reason to judge someone. I think he said "you can't help your color".

He comes across as a pompous bore, but he does mellow out as he ages and comes as close to being a "regular guy" as he's able. He does get nicer as the series progresses, as does Suzi.

I saw the best minds of my generation destroyed by madness, starving hysterical naked.

Agreed. See also my comment at the end of the thread "John's attitude" for Seven Up.
