"Thank you Very Much." I would love to play the role of Tom Jenkins some day just so I can sing that song.

Unless you played it in the Tommy Steele stage version where you would find he'd nicked it for himself. Tom Jenkins doesn't get it.

Haha, I think "Thank You Very Much" is probably just about everybody's favorite. I know its mine. Its so catchy and cute.

2nd favorite would have to be the beautiful little song by Tiny Tim. (The one that goes: "On this beautiful winter's morning..."

"I Like Life" and Alec Guiness's song that he sings during the ghost scene. Thank You very Much is my other favorite.

'Christmas Children'(sung by Bob Crachit, Tiny Tim and his sister) is my favorite! It just captures the magic of Christmas through the eyes of the young and young at heart! I can listen to that song over and over and never tire of it!

No love for 'I Like Life' and 'Father Christmas'?

My favorite is "I'll Begin Again," however not Finney's version (he doesn't make it rousing enough; he's better on the songs that are SUPPOSED to be mumbled under one's breath). The rendition I adore is Anthony Newley's, on his Pure Imagination album/CD. The CD is now paired with Ain't It Funny, another Newley favorite of mine. Of course Newley also performed Finney's role in the British revival in the 90's, but he was no longer in his most vigorous voice.

Within the film alone, "Thank You Very Much" comes off the best. And I have a special fondness for "I Hate People" because I was ten and it made me look up the word "sycophant" in a dictionary ("a servile person who, acting in their own self interest, attempts to win favor by flattering one or more influential people, with an undertone that this is at the cost of their own personal pride, principles, and peer respect."). I don't think I have ever used it in a sentence once!

its so hard to pick one! there's not ONE song in it i don't love, but i admit my mother and i tend to sing i hate people whenever we get stuck in traffic lmao :-)

Mine is "Thank You Very Much"
I remember when I saw this as a kid, in the Broadway theater in South Philly,
people were coming out humming and or singing the song, it was quite infectious.

December the 25th! I love that entire scene with everyone dancing and believe this version has the best Fezziwig.

reply

"I Like Life" is the song that has stuck with me through many, many years. It's my absolute favorite no contest.

reply

I love the "December the 25th" number. So much fun! And for pure joy and heart-warming glow: "Happiness Is." JWhat a delightful score!

December the 25th and Thank You Very Much are my two favorites. I wish this was on TV more often!

I really like "Thank You Very Much" as well. I like to sing that to someone when they do a favor for me. Scares the crap out of them.
