Who is Winter Warlock praying to

at Kris & Jessica's wedding when he puts his hands together in prayer and asks for a little magic please? [and then the forest of decorated evergreens light up]

reply

Well, considering the narrator (Fred Astaire) mentioned the forest area was a "beautiful church" (since Kris and Jessica were married there), I imagine he was praying to God for a little Christmas miracle. Although, praying to The Good Lord to use "magical powers" seems a bit far-fetched.

reply

Praying to the Good Lord for you favorite sports team to win the game would be a lot more far fetched, yet people do it every day.

Like Matrix, I fight for love.

reply

Yeah because the rest of the story was very realistic up until then.

He's taking the knife out of the Cheese!
Do you think he wants some cheese?

reply

Are you sure he wasn't praying to some Yuletide Pagan deity?

reply

Nope, Kris Kringle converted the Winter Warlock to Christianity after he gave him the toy train.

The Winter Warlock is the Paul of Santa Claus is COmin' to Town.

reply

Since he is a warlock (which, BTW, is not proper, he is a male witch) I assume he prays to the God and Goddess of nature. He could also be praying to God and Jesus, since I assume the Savior was just born. BTW: decorating a tree is a Wiccan/Pagan custom that Christians "borrowed"

reply

↑makes much sense↑

reply

There are no Wiccan customs, it's a 20th century religion.

reply

Mother Nature?

reply

I think it’s open to interpretation. The obvious answer is the Islamo-Judeo-Christian God but it could be that he preciously worshipped a Wiccan god and required the intermediation of that deity to tap his former powers.

Isn't this the special where Santa decides to scale back his toy deliveries to just one night per year, and decides on the "holiest night" of the year in which to do so? If so, I'd go with the Judeo/Christian God.

reply

Also there were cross ornaments hanging from the trees.

reply

Good point. Haven't seen this since my kids were little.
